A few years ago, I was a Law student. Desperate to earn a living in a way that was acceptable to my family.

That is me on the right, in school and with every doubt in my mind that a Law career was not for me. After 4 months of my 1st year, I quit. I walked up to my teacher during a 2nd semester exam, and let her know that I would not be continuing with the program.

For the next few days, I was in a mixed state of elation and anxiety. What would I do next? I knew that I needed a career that would allow me to think outside the box. I had always felt drawn to the IT field. So I earned a Diploma in Web Design, and shortly after, a Diploma in Programming.

I proceeded to work for various ad agencies. Although I did enjoy some of the work, I came to realize that jobs today are not what they used to be. There is no longer any employer/employee loyalty, and contract work now constitutes half the jobs that are out there.

I did not want to be working at a different job every year, but that is the situation I found myself in. At my last agency job, in order to have something to fall back on, I started an affiliate niche site. I had found some really good affiliate training that would teach me the way to make a passive income with hardly any start-up money. I spend the better half of a year building that site, and just as it was starting to get some visitors, the inevitable happened... I got fired.

The Day I Got Canned

About a year ago, I was working for an ad agency that did development work for some pretty high profile clients. A lot of what I did there was risky in the sense that if there was ever a screw-up, my job would be on the line. IT work is not easy, especially when every detail counts.

So one day, I was asked to relay a message to the systems admin of a popular men's underwear company. Little did I know, the information I had received by one of my coworkers was not correct. I relayed the information to the systems admin, who then proceeded to follow my instructions...

In about 30 minutes, the men's underwear website went offline... Just a couple of days later, I was called into my boss's office to be handed a pink slip.

Instead of getting frustrated at this, I could not help but to feel more alive! This canning was the last straw. I was going to be self-employed and make money online. This is what I wanted most, after all.

Getting Back On My Feet

I immediately began putting more time into the niche site I had created over the year I had worked there. I was determined to make it work.

I honed my affiliate skills wherever I could. Eventually, I was making a sizable income. I had a process down pat that I was using every step of the way. Those initial months of trial and error got me to the point where there is no more guess work. I know exactly how to leverage the work I have already done and scale it as big as I want.
